Creating clean and consistent UTM parameters is essential for accurate tracking in Google Analytics, GA4, and marketing dashboards. Use the UTM Builder on the left to generate your link, and follow the guidelines on the right to understand how to name each parameter for clearer insights and better campaign attribution.
How to Name Your UTM Parameters
📌 UTM Source – Where the click comes from
Use the platform name: google, facebook, instagram, newsletter, whatsapp etc.
💡 Keep it lowercase and avoid special characters.
📌 UTM Medium – The marketing channel type
Use broad channel categories: cpc (paid ads), email, social, referral, display, influencer etc
💡 Never include platform names here (e.g., don’t use google_cpc)
📌 UTM Campaign – Why the traffic exists
Your campaign name should reflect the goal of the promotion: sale_2025, lead_nurture, product_launch etc
💡 Add dates or batches if you run seasonal or recurring campaigns.
📌 UTM Term (Optional) — Keyword or audience
Use it for PPC targeting or audience segmentation: seo_keyword, remarketing_list
📌 UTM Content (Optional) — Version or CTA
Use to differentiate creatives or buttons: cta_footer, email_button_top, etc
